Dimitri Kavrakos

Bass Dimitris Kavrakos made his debut in the role of Zaccaria (Nabucco) at the Greek National Opera. In Italy, he first appeared in Verdi's Requiem at Spoleto, and in 1976 he made his debut at Avery Fisher Hall in Lincoln Center in New York, and in Refitse Sicily. In 1979 he made his debut at the Metropolitan Opera as the Grand Inquisitor in Don Carlos and then interpreted key roles in the operas Aida, Hernan, Il Trovatore, Sicilian Vespers, Romeo and Juliet, Don Giovanni, Turandot, Luisa Miller, Simon Bokkanegkra, Nabucco, Norma , Lucia, Force of Destiny and the Jew. During 2007-2008 he took part in productions of Aida, Turandot and Macbeth.

Dimitri has performed with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, San Francisco, Houston and Dallas and has appeared in operas such as Boris Gkountounof, Luisa Miller, Force of Destiny, Tziokonta, Aida, Puritans, Ypnovatis and Lakme. At La Scala he has appeared in operas such as Lucia, Don Giovanni, La Vestale, and Rigkoletto Altsina. At the Paris Opera he has performed in operas such as Lucia, Norma, Puritans, Don Carlos, Turandot. At Covent Garden in London he has starred in the operas Boris Gkountounof Anna Bohlen, Marriage of Figaro and La Donna de Lago. Dimitri has appeared in operas in Florence, Venice, Rome, Bologna, Naples, Madrid, Seville, Catania, Genoa, Montreal, Marseille, Bordeaux, Cologne, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

Dimitri has participated in major European festivals such as Salzburg, the Bregkets of Aix en Provence and in Gklaintmporn. As a concert artist he has collaborated with the Chicago, Cleveland, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Montreal, Amsterdam and Paris Symphony Orchestras under the baton of famous conductors like Daniel Barenboim, Jem Conlon, Charles Ntytoua, Edo de Vaart, Zubin Mehta, Bernard Chaitink, James Livain, Tzouseppe Pattani, Helmut Rillingk, Georg Salt and Riccardo Muti. Dimitris Kavrakos has a permanent collaboration with the Greek National Opera and frequently appears at the Athens Concert Hall, and the Athens Festival. He has also worked with the State Orchestra of Athens and Thessaloniki and the National Symphony Orchestra of ERT
